Founded by Ramon Barajas III on behalf of his mother Maria Guadalupe Lazcano to support her philanthropy beliefs and continue her legacy. The Maria Guadalupe Foundation was born out of the necessity to establish an awareness of Lupus, of which Ramon’s mother Maria Guadalupe had suffered and eventually led to her parting from this world on December 19, 2000.

Since the age of 10, Ramon Barajas III noticed that there was not enough awareness whether through education nor advocacy about Lupus. As for advancements in medical research, it remains unsolved due to the lack of funding being slashed, clinical trial programs continuing to be shut down due to failure testing, as well as a lack of patients for such clinical trials.

This led to the establishment of the Maria Guadalupe Foundation, whose direct mission it to support the Lupus community through building bridges between science, technology, medicine, and education in order to establish a global ecosystem with a better understanding of Lupus, therefore able to discuss, organize, and advocate communities about Lupus, as well as bring about a vast global network of tools and resources of which can be directly available universally everywhere and by everyone, in order to bring about a vision of a world abundant in life and free of Lupus. The Maria Guadalupe Foundation is a division of the Barajas Family Foundation.
