Bolivia awakens a new sense of adventure through coffee

the experience for you. Bolivia, a small country located in central South America with varied terrain spanning the Andes

Mountains and the Amazon Basin rainforest boasts the best aroma in the world thanks to its diversity of zones and ecological topography in which it produces its coffee.

Bolivia is a country with a rich history when it comes to its culture, arts, gastronomy as well its landmarks such as Lake Titicaca, the continent’s largest lake and the Salar of Uyuni, the world’s highest and largest salt flat among others. Did you know it is also home to the world’s highest coffee farms?

The Ágil Group, Marketing and Strategic Communication Agency led by its Cofounder and CEO Mónica del Pilar Gastelú, the National Chamber of Commerce, the Gastronomic Chamber of Santa Cruz and the United Nations Development Programme (PNUD) joined forces to develop Bolivia’s first Coffee Route “Ruta Cafetera”. 


Among the objectives of this Coffee Route, the development of creating a unique experience in which one could learn about Bolivia’s coffee bean and appreciate all its varieties and methods in which it is cultivated and processed. Through this Coffee Route “Ruta Cafetera”, one will have the opportunity to have a direct earthly connection while knowing about the history, culture, process and more when it comes to the wonders of the Bolivian coffee bean known for its quality and positioning in the highest rankings as a result of its competitive demand around the world.

Fact: Bolivian coffee (specialty) is in high demand abroad, 80 percent of production is exported. Coffee that obtains a rating greater than 84 points on a scale of 100 is called gourmet coffee, but it is also known as premium or specialty, this for its aroma, flavor, in short, for its high quality.

Through months of investigation, preparation and working with the coffee farms, baristas, 37 coffee shops, organizations, etc, presented the Coffee Route “Ruta Cafetera”, a 6 day festival in La Paz and Santa Cruz from December 12 - 17, with the opportunity to awaken one’s five senses through the indulgence of the Bolivian coffee culture, awakening a new sense of adventure through coffee to enjoy in Bolivia.
